Cambodia is a state in South East Asia with 17 mln population. Cambodia has also been the target of active investment from China, including in real estate. It is one of the few countries in the world where you can buy an apartment in installments.

It has progressive procedures for expats, which want to stay in the country for long-term living. However, to visit country first you need to apply for a visa. Basically the most popular types is tourist visa, business visa or E-visa. Already in Cambodia you can get a long-term visa for 6 months or 1 year. Most popular visa types include: work visa, job seeking visa, business/investor visa and also retirement visa.

In 2019 the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) has banned (3) crypto transactions. In Decembwe 2023 NBC issued a resolution, which restricted (4) local banks and payments systems from operations with Bitcoin. So probably crypto payments and salaries are formally prohibited in Cambodia. However, according to SCMP (5) there are unlicensed crypto exchange points in the country, where Tether is widely used in remittances.

Legal status of cryptocurrency in Cambodia is still incomplete. The NBC is still opposed to some type of crypto linked activities. However, the other regulator - the Securities and Exchange Regulator of Cambodia (SERC), has approved (6) license for crypto operations to RGX platform in January 2024. Also according to RGX's representative Thomas Sching crypto exchange is not illegal in the country - cambodians may own, sell and buy crypto. They are only restricted by NBC to use local bank accounts for this purposes.
